Rangers have been left frustrated in pursuit of two strikers during this month. The Gers were eyeing two impressive young strikers from England but appear to have missed out on both.
Sunderland striker Josh Maja has joined Bordeaux on a permanent deal, the club’s official website confirmed.
The 20-year-old had scored 16 goals this season and was wanted by Rangers, according to the print edition of The Sunday People via HITC Sport.
And Karlan Grant is expected to leave Charlton Athletic and join Huddersfield Town, according to South London Press.
Rangers were also interested in the 21-year-old, as per The Scottish Sun, after he scored 14 goals for the Addicks.
Both young League One starlets were identified as possible pre-contract additions for next season. But perhaps this is the perfect time for Rangers to discuss another pre-contract target.
Tom Eaves, who also plays in League One with Gillingham, was a target for Rangers back in December, according to Sky Sports News.

The 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season and could prove to be a shrewd acquisition for the Gers.
Eaves has an impressive track record for the Gills, having scored 15 goals in 32 games this season. Last season, he netted 18 times in 47 appearances.
The Liverpool-born striker stands at 6ft 5in tall and would be a different style to Maja and Grant.
However, with Kyle Lafferty’s future beyond this season in doubt, Eaves could be the perfect like-for-like target man replacement on a free transfer.
