Rangers should have midfielder Will Vaulks back on their radar

Rangers should place former target Will Vaulks back on their radar ahead of the January transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail back in January, the Gers were tracking the Rotherham United ace after his impressive form in League One.

The midfielder ended up staying with Rotherham and is now an important player in their starting XI in the Championship following promotion.

Vaulks has kept up his improvement in England’s second tier and should now be in the sights of Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.

The 25-year-old is a well rounded central midfielder that can fill a defensive role in front of the back four and also has an immense work-rate.

He’s also an excellent long-range shooter that has chipped in with four goals and supplied three assists in 22 games for Rotherham this season.

According to the Daily Mail this week, Norwich City, Stoke City and Derby County are all circling for Waulks amid his solid form.

But Rangers should add themselves to the mix by trying to convince him of a switch to Ibrox.

The Scottish giants need some extra reinforcements in midfield for the second half of the season if they are to truly be in the mix for the league title and Vaulks would provide a great option.

Gerrard is having to rotate his midfield trio between the likes of Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield, Lassana Coulibaly and Andy Halliday.
