Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly let Troy Parrott leave the club on loan in the coming months as he struggles to get game time under Jose Mourinho – and that should place Steven Gerrard and Rangers on red alert.

Parrott, 18, has broken into the Tottenham first team and managed four appearances – starting once and making three substitute appearances. He has even earned his first cap for the Republic of Ireland.

But since the restart, Parrott has failed to make the bench and Football London reporter Alisdair Gold has claimed he could leave Spurs on loan this summer. Championship sides are said to be interested.

But given that Spurs are a club expected to qualify for European competition, surely Tottenham would rather Parrott goes to a side where he could taste top-tier football and even the chance to play in the Europa League?

Step forward Rangers. Gerrard’s men need a striker this summer with Jermain Defoe 37 years of age, and Alfredo Morelos renowned for his suspensions. It remains to be seen if the Colombian will remain at Ibrox.

Parrott would certainly get game time if he opted against a move to an English club and instead chose to move to north of the border. Rangers need game time and Ibrox could be the ideal place for Parrott to develop.

Having that experience of playing in front of big crowds, with a winning mentality and even on the European stage – Rangers is an excellent apprenticeship for Tottenham game time. A Rangers loan is a move that suits all parties.
