Rangers should consider swoop for Kilmarnock defender Greg Taylor in the summer

Steven Gerrard certainly has plenty of work to do with Rangers over the summer to continue making progress at Ibrox, as they have failed to win any silverware in cup competitions this season and they are 10 points behind leaders Celtic in the league.

One of the main area that the Gers need to address is at left-back, where they need to find a permanent solution if they want a settled back four.

Borna Barisic and Andy Halliday have been the main pair rotated in the full-back position, while Lee Wallace is still on the books but has become a forgotten figure.

Barisic is far too attack-minded and is often caught out of position defensively when his back is to goal.

Meanwhile, Halliday is a midfielder by trade that has stepped in well at times at left-back, but he’s ultimately limited in the position going forward.

Rangers should eye a new left-back in the summer transfer window and should consider raiding Scottish Premiership rivals Kilmarnock.

Greg Taylor has been the first-choice option at left-back for Kilmarnock this season and his form in Scotland’s top flight has been impressive.

The 21-year-old is a left-sided flyer that likes to bomb forward, but is defensively sound too and has a strong balance to his game.

He’s a developing young talent that could be perfect for Gerrard to help mould into the answer for Rangers’ left-back problem and he was even at Ibrox as an academy prospect.

Taylor would not have any trouble adapting to the league and the rapid full-back is someone that should Gerrard should target during the remainder of the season.
