Rangers manager Steven Gerrard should seriously consider sending Lassana Coulibaly back to his parent club Angers.

The Mali international has been having a tough time at the club now after a very bright start.

Coulibaly was being hailed as Gerrard’s best signing of them all only a few weeks into the season.

He initially showcased a brilliant engine in midfield and a steely presence.

But he would pick up an injury against St. Mirren which has seemingly been the catalyst for his fall from grace.

Since returning against Dundee on September 15, Coulibaly just hasn’t been the same force.

Often he has looked laboured and unthreatening.

Gerrard should consider returning him to Angers

Coulibaly hasn’t produced a good performance for weeks now and Gerrard is likely going to want to strengthen his squad as the January transfer window rolls around.

With Coulibaly only being on loan, perhaps the focus needs to be more on Gerrard playing players that are contracted to Rangers permanently.

The Anfield legend can’t go on picking Coulibaly when he’s in this kind of form, especially when there’s not even a guarantee he’d make the move permanent.

All could change in the next few weeks, but as it stands former fans’ favourite Coulibaly just isn’t bringing it at Ibrox.

Give the way he has improved the team, Gerrard may feel as though he now has the draw to attract better players to the club and on permanent deals.
