Rangers should consider entering the race for Portsmouth attacker Jamal Lowe

Rangers still look a few players short of really challenging champions Celtic next year for the league title.

Steven Gerrard’s team finished the campaign nine points adrift of their Old Firm rivals, but did at least restore their place as the second best team in Scotland.

The Light Blues need to try add some more attacking firepower for next season, especially with Ryan Kent returning to Liverpool after a successful loan spell at Ibrox.

Rangers do look a little short of quality options in wide areas, which is why they should enter the reported hunt for Portsmouth’s Jamal Lowe.

According to Sky Sports, Championship trio Leeds United, Cardiff City and Wigan Athletic are going to battle for the attacker’s signature this summer.

The report details that Portsmouth could tempted to allow his exit and he’s likely to cost a bargain £2million.

Rangers should consider throwing their name into the hat for Lowe, who has just enjoyed a brilliant campaign in League One with Portsmouth and looks capable of playing at a higher level.

Lowe made 55 appearances across all competitions this campaign, scoring 17 goals and supplying nine assists in return.

The right-winger is blessed with tremendous pace and trickery, while he’s a composed finisher too.

He ended up on the losing side in the League One play-off semi-final, but should get his big move this summer and he’s got the potential to rip it up in Scotland.

There is already a pursuit ongoing for his signature, which is why Rangers would have to identify him as a target quickly.
