Barry Ferguson’s advice for Rangers-linked Jake Hastie
Ex-Rangers legend Barry Ferguson believes Jake Hastie might be better off staying at Motherwell and getting games rather than moving to Rangers.
The 19-year-old is reportedly close to signing a four-year contract with Rangers after scoring six goals in nine games, The Scottish Sun reports.
Ferguson told PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show on YouTube: “Is he going to go to Rangers and play? You don’t know, you can never tell. I just think it’s important for young players to get a certain amount of games under their belt, getting that experience and then someday, he will get his big move because he’s certainly got a lot of quality.”
Rangers appeal Alfredo Morelos’ booking for ‘diving’
Rangers have appealed against Alfredo Morelos’ booking for simulation in the recent cup loss against Aberdeen, BBC Sport reports.
Referee Kevin Clancy handed the 22-year-old a yellow card for diving after a clash with Andrew Considine in the penalty area.
Replays suggest there was contact and the Colombian striker will find out whether his caution is rescinded at a hearing on Monday.
Jermain Defoe issues rallying call
Rangers striker Jermain Defoe has urged the fans to get “excited” about the team, despite their recent Scottish Cup exit, The Scottish Sun reports.
With the Scottish Premiership title now looking unlikely, the cup was a major chance to win some silverware but a 2-0 loss against Aberdeen put an end to that dream.
But Defoe is still excited and he said: “Fans are going to be frustrated, just like the players. The fans expect you to win, expect you to progress in these kinds of tournaments, but they should be excited.”
