Rangers are set to miss out on top midfield target Kieran Dowell, according to Football Insider.

Everton midfielder Dowell is set to reject a move to Rangers and move to another Championship club on loan.

The 21-year-old was seen as a potential Ovie Ejaria replacement after he scored 10 goals for Nottingham Forest last season.

But Rangers’ pursuit of the England under-21 man looks like it will end in disappointment.

Rangers have made a formal move for Dominic Solanke, Football Insider reports.

Several Premier League clubs are chasing the England under-21 striker but Rangers want to steal a march on their rivals.

Solanke is yet to play a minute of competitive football for Liverpool this season and Gerrard is hoping to use his links with the Merseyside club to strike a loan deal.

The 21-year-old is Gerrard’s top target and Rangers have made a “firm move” for him.

Alfredo Morelos targeted

According to Football Insider, Rangers are bracing themselves for bids for Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombia international has been in fine form for Rangers this season, leading the Scottish Premiership goal scoring charts with nine strikes.

But the 22-year-old has also received three red cards, which will concern Gerrard.

After rejecting interest in Morelos last summer, Rangers are ready for more bids for their star man, who they cannot afford to lose in the middle of a title bid.
