Rangers reportedly want goalkeeper Zander Clark, St. Johnstone fans worried

Rangers are reportedly looking to bring in goalkeeper Zander Clark as a replacement for Allan McGregor – and St. Johnstone fans have reacted.

McGregor is expected to leave at the end of the season. The veteran stopper only signed a 12-month extension at the last minute, last summer.

His form has dipped in comparison with last season, with Rangers failing to qualify for the Champions League, too. He needs replacing.

The Record claim Rangers are keeping tabs on Scotland stopper Clark. The 29-year-old, like McGregor, is out of contract at the end of the season.

Rangers have recorded a loss north of £20million, and it means funds are likely to be few and far between. Clark on a free saves them some cash.

Uncapped, but part of Scotland’s side, Clark is in talks with St. Johnstone over a new deal. But it remains to be seen if he will put pen to paper.

What are St. Johnstone fans saying about Rangers eyeing Clark?

Clark has connections with Rangers. Born in Glasgow, Clark was even on the books at Rangers during his academy days.

A boyhood Rangers fan, Clark will surely be tempted to swap St. Johnstone for Rangers. It would see him compete with Jon McLaughlin to start.

Of course, Clark also got a late assist in the Cup against Rangers last season – before starring in the ensuing penalty shootout to knock the Gers out.

St. Johnstone fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that Rangers could bring in Clark – potentially on a free transfer next summer.
