It seems Carlos Pena’s days at Rangers may finally be numbered. The Daily Mail is reporting that Rangers are considering removing the Mexican from the wage bill with a potential release this month.
They claim he is currently on £27,000-a-week at Ibrox following his reported £2.2 million move from Guadalajara in 2017.
The Mexican was known to former Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha and it was the Portuguese boss who decided he was a player that could benefit Rangers.
In fairness, the player had a good record at Ibrox. He scored five goals in 14 games for the club but soon became an outcast at the club after the sacking of Caixinha.

Rangers managed to convince Cruz Azul to pay half his wages on a loan spell last year, according to the Scottish Sun. However, Pena is now back at Rangers and they need to remove him from the wagebill.
The club has recently signed Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis whilst Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara have signed pre-contract agreements with the club.
Having such high wages on the bill for a club that needs to keep finances tight would be criminal. If Rangers can figure out a cost-effective way to end his contract at Ibrox, they must get it done.
