Rangers predicted XI tonight: Balogun starts, Arfield on the bench

Picking a team for Rangers tonight could prove problematic for boss Steven Gerrard this evening.

After being officially crowned champions on Sunday a quick look at social media saw some pretty jubilant celebrations among the players.

In all seriousness, the celebrating will stop this evening and Gerrard will have to ensure his team are focused back on the Europa League.

Slavia Prague will provide a stern test for the Gers and dumped out Leicester City in the previous round.

Ahead of tonight’s game, we looked at the team which could be selected by Gerrard.

In goal and back four

Allan McGregor has been tremendous between the posts during 2020/21 and he should continue again this evening.

At right-back youngster, Nathan Patterson scored in the previous round and he should continue in the team.

Borna Barisic has been another standout performer this season and he should get the nod at left-back.

Leon Balogun came off the bench on Saturday and the £12,500-a-week defender could partner Connor Goldson at centre-back.

Midfield

Steven Davis, Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo have been in fine form this season and there seems little reason to change it around here.

All three have their qualities and it’s a tried and tested midfield three that Gerrard has utilised.

Davis marshalls things through the middle, with Kamara and Aribo providing the creative sparks which buzz around him.

In attack

Alfredo Morelos is the Rangers man who should be most feared by the Czech outfit this evening.

The Colombian has netted 15 times this season and will hope to find himself on the score-sheet once again tonight.

Either side of him, it’s hard to imagine a change taking place.

Ianis Hagi and Ryan Kent are both in fine fettle and should operate on the flanks this evening.
