Glasgow Rangers are in Europa League playoff action at Ibrox tonight.

And if things go well, the Gers might be able to complete a new signing before kickoff.

Rangers have been heavily linked with Juninho Bacuna for a while now.

According to the Scottish Sun, he is high up on Steven Gerrard’s wishlist.

Indeed, Rangers are apparently in discussions over signing him, and the deal looks to be on the home straight.

The Scottish Sun even claims the Light Blues could land Bacuna before tonight’s Europa League playoff first leg with Alashkert.

“Maybe sometime on Thursday”

Speaking about Rangers’ pursuit of a midfielder, Gerrard said: “The progress is really good.

“It’s strong and we’re hoping to have some news in the coming days.

“Until it’s done and dusted, it’s very hard to give an exact time and date.

“I am hoping for more positive news in the coming hours and maybe sometime on Thursday.

“We might have something to say around the game. We’ll just have to wait and see.

“But I don’t want to get too carried away or ahead of myself as well.”

Rangers set to land “great kid”?

Bacuna has been plying his trade for English outfit Huddersfield since 2018.

Since moving to the Terriers from Groningen for a reported £2.6million, he has clocked up 107 competitive club appearances.

Last season, former Huddersfield boss Danny Cowley deemed him a “great kid” who’s “so important” to the team.

And with his contract expiring next season, the £17,000-a-week ace could potentially be available at a reasonable price.
