Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has claimed that defender Nikola Katic ticks all the boxes when it comes to desire and commitment.
The Light Blues incumbent has been speaking to the club’s official website ahead of tomorrow’s game with Hibernian.
Katic started the match against Motherwell last time out and grabbed a goal in the process. It was, however, a rare start after a spell playing second fiddle.
Gerrard clearly rates the 23-year-old though and feels as though he is improving all the time.

Katic might not be a mainstay in the team right now but his boss thinks he will be quality in the future.
Gerrard told the club’s official website: “Katic is a much better player than when he arrived but in terms of going out there and wanting to win and bravery he ticks every box. When he hits his peak years he will be a top player.”
Katic will hope to keep his place in the team tomorrow as Rangers go in search of closing the gap on leaders Celtic.
These comments from Gerrard might suggest that he will maintain his position as a peripheral figure for the current campaign.
Bit-part
The man with one-cap for the Croatia national team might have to be patient at times but he does seem a big part of the club’s future.
Connor Goldson and Filip Helander have built up a strong rapport at centre-back. Helander’s current injury has opened the door for Katic to shine in his absence.

There is a sense that once the Swede it fit, however, he will be straight back in the team.
All Katic can do is get his head down and continue playing to the best of his ability. If he does that he will have every chance of earning a run of games.
