Rangers fans more than any others will have sympathy with any team being run into the ground by poor management. Fans at Ibrox will not forget how Rangers were relegated to the bottom tier of Scotland’s football league after years of financial mismanagement at the club.
Rangers have fought back from that plunge and Ibrox is now the home of Scottish Premier League and European football again.
Next season, under Steven Gerrard, Rangers will be hoping to bring the title back to Ibrox and stop their Old Firm rivals going 10 in a row.
When Rangers went bust, teams picked at the carcass of the club to lure their best talent away from Glasgow.
Now, Rangers should use their position to do the same to England’s current crisis club and bring the son of a cult legend to Ibrox.

Wigan Athletic have entered administration in incredible circumstances and now there is talk of the Championship club selling on their best assets.
One of those is England under-18 international Jensen Weir, son of former Rangers player and assistant manager David Weir.
Weir Sr played for Rangers in the 2008 Europa League final and won eight major honors as an Ibrox player. As assistant to Mark Warburton, he helped Rangers ascend from the Scottish Championship and back into the Scottish top-flight.
His son is now considered one of Wigan’s top prospects and is wanted by a host of clubs. Wigan Today is reporting that Brighton, where his father is currently working, are keen on the player whilst The Sun recently suggested Tottenham were interested.
Rangers would be a potentially far better match for the player and would certainly offer him a chance of more regular playing time.
Of course, David Weir’s exit from Rangers was somewhat acrimonious but that was three years ago now and he would surely not turn his son away from a club he still has an immense fondness for, despite the acrimony.
Steven Gerrard would be an immense role model for Weir, himself a rampacious midfielder and Ibrox could be the perfect place to play regular first-team football.
Surely, it is worth a phone call?
