Rangers are one of a number of European heavyweights looking to sign Kwadwo Baah, with The Athletic (Jan 28) reporting that Steven Gerrard wants to bring the youngster to Ibrox.
Baah is attracting attention after a remarkable run of form in League One this season. The 18-year-old has scored three goals and contributed two assists in 15 appearances. He has started just eight times.

His form was not going unnoticed. The Athletic’s report noted that the likes of Juventus and Bayern Munich also wanted the teenager on Rangers’s radar.
However, as the transfer deadline loomed, it appeared that they were all set for disappointment.
BBC Sport reported on deadline day that Manchester City were close to agreeing a deal with the winger, with his contract with Rochdale set to expire in the summer.

However, Baah remains at Spotland following the closure of the window. And according to the Manchester Evening News, no agreement with City was ever reached.
If that is indeed the case and Baah’s future remains uncertain, Rangers simply have to act now.
They have a clear advantage over City in that they can discuss a pre-contract deal now.
Of course, Juve and Bayern are in the same boat as the Gers. But perhaps that should encourage Rangers to try and initiate talks with Baah now in the hope that they can reach an agreement.
It would be a huge coup for Rangers to beat those sides to the attacker’s signature. And perhaps City apparently leaving the door open should provide all of the encouragement the Scottish Premiership leaders need to show their hand.
