Rangers may receive boost as Leeds reportedly make Illan Meslier decision

Goal reported towards the end of the January transfer window that Rangers are interested in bringing Kamil Miazek to Ibrox with his Leeds United contract set to expire this summer.

In truth, Miazek’s future has – from the outside – appeared to lie away from Elland Road for a little while. The 23-year-old is yet to make his senior debut for the Whites despite previously being a regular for the under-23s and making the senior bench on a handful of occasions.

And with Leeds signing Elia Caprile during the January transfer window, you could understand why some fans may have been tempted to put the writing on the wall for Miazek.

And it appears that Rangers may soon receive a further boost in their reported pursuit of the talented Pole.

The Daily Mirror reported this week that Leeds are ready to make Illan Meslier’s loan move permanent having already agreed an option with parent club Lorient.

Leeds clearly see a long-term future for Meslier at the club. And with Caprile signing a contract until 2023 (via club’s official website), it has become increasingly difficult to see a path for Miazek.

Even if Leeds hope to agree a contract extension with Miazek, it would hardly be a surprise if the stopper decided to move on.

So the Meslier reports coupled with Caprile’s arrival must increase Rangers’s chances of landing Miazek should they decide to make a move.

Miazek has shown for Leeds’s under-23s that he does have a lot of potential. And he would arguably be a shrewd addition for Steven Gerrard’s men if the Gers made an approach.

Leeds appear set to leave the path clear for Miazek to seek a fresh challenge.

So it will be interesting to see whether those reports on Meslier prompt Rangers to prepare an offer for his teammate in the near future.
