Rangers are reportedly looking to sign left-back Martin Olsson after the Swedish star’s contract looks set to expire at the end of the month – and Oli McBurnie may have just hinted Olsson is on his way to Ibrox.
Swedish outlet Expressen have claimed that Rangers and Nottingham Forest are among the sides that could be interested in the 47-time Sweden international. Turkish side Fenerbahce are also said to be keen.
Olsson, 31, had a difficult 2018-19 campaign. He played 17 times in the Championship for Swansea, before suffering an injury that prevented him from featuring even once in 2019. He has 197 Premier League appearances to his name.
Now, Olsson’s Swansea teammate and self-confessed Rangers fan McBurnie may have hinted that Olsson could be on his way to Rangers for free, with his latest post on his Instagram story – particularly with the use of emojis.
Rangers desperately need a left-back this summer, with Borna Barisic struggling since he joined the club from NK Osijek. Andy Halliday is more of a midfielder, while Jon Flanagan is right-footed.
Olsson would be an excellent signing. On a free transfer, the former Norwich City star would be a major coup given that the left-back is a proven Premier League defender.
Willing to get forward and whip a cross into the box, he would be perfect for Rangers.
