Reported Glasgow Rangers target Pedro Chirivella has made a decision on his future – but unfortunately for Steven Gerrard, it won’t be with the Ibrox side.
According to a report in the Liverpool Echo from mid-May, the Liverpool academy graduate was on Rangers’ radar along with Ligue 1 side Nantes.
Chirivella was reportedly offered a five-year deal by the Reds, but was “likely” to turn it down in search of first-team football, which has proven the case.

On Friday afternoon, Nantes confirmed on their official website and on social media that the 23-year-old is to join on a contract until the summer of 2023.
Chirivella had been at Liverpool for seven years, having joined from Valencia for just £2million in July 2013, but leaves with a relatively low 11 first-team appearances under his belt.

Former Liverpool chief Spanish scout David Vizcaino was left stunned by Chirivella back in 2016, being quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “Just talking about Pedro Chirivella gives me goosebumps.
“In England there would have to be 100 Pedro Chirivellas in order to revolutionise English football. Chirivella is football, he has intelligence, control, technique, personality. I expect great things from him.”
When asked by The Redmen TV in 2014 who he admired the most in the Liverpool dressing room, Chirivella replied: “It has to be Steven Gerrard. He’s won everything here and he’s the person I look up to.”
Sadly, he has opted for Ligue 1 over following Gerrard from Anfield to Ibrox – a shame as he seemed a great match for Rangers, a very talented player with the potential to become a star, who Jurgen Klopp reportedly didn’t want to lose, who idolises the Rangers manager and available on a free.
