In 34 appearances this season he has contributed an underwhelming four goals and four assists.

Rangers have clearly seen something in Jones, however and the challenge for Gerrard is to unleash the obvious potential.

A better glimpse of what might be to come from the winger came during Northern Ireland’s latest fixtures.

Jones played admirably well for the Green and Whites in their victories over Estonia and Belarus.

The man who netted against Rangers earlier in the campaign will know that the pressure will be on to perform with the Scottish giants.

Based on his performances for Michael O’Neill’s team over the last few days, they could have a really exciting player on their hands.

Jones has been deployed as an old-fashioned left-winger by O’Neill and he has looked the part.

Playing with better players at Rangers can help Jones thrive next season

Whilst some Gers fans might have been somewhat concerned with his performances at Kilmarnock of late, his latest international outings have offered hope a tremendous signing by the club.
