Report: Jordan Jones hands Rangers boss Steven Gerrard fitness boost

Rangers have received a fitness boost following the Old Firm derby-day defeat to fierce rivals Celtic, according to the Daily Record.

Gers winger Jordan Jones injured himself in a horror tackle on Moritz Bauer during Sunday’s game at Ibrox – a challenge he was dismissed for.

However, a scan on his knee ligaments has shown results better than first anticipated and the Northern Ireland star should only miss a month of action.

It had been initially feared that the 24-year-old might be missing for four months. Scans have instead revealed no damage to the ACL and instead, Jones has been lucky to escape with a minor medial ligament injury.

Jones only played the last 20 minutes at Ibrox and was shown a straight red card for his wild kick out at Bauer in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

The skilful winger has started twice for Rangers so far this season and will now face a fight for his shirt when he returns from his injury.

TBR Verdict – Good news but Jones now has a challenge

The man who signed from Kilmarnock during the summer will be delighted with the prognosis from the scan.

With Ryan Kent signing for the club, however, Jones could have done with staying fit and fresh to challenge for his place in Steven Gerrard’s team.

The ex-Liverpool man is now probably going to waltz into the team and if he performs well enough he should keep his place. All whilst Jones is sat in the stands.

It was a moment of madness from the Rangers trickster and hopefully, this will see him learn a valuable lesson.
