Rangers hint at buy-back clause after confirming Zak Rudden’s exit

Rangers have seemingly confirmed on their official website that they have agreed a buy-back option as part of the deal that sees Zak Rudden leave Ibrox permanently.

Rudden looked set to be on the move this month after the forward’s loan spell at Plymouth Argyle came to an end earlier in the window.

The 19-year-old scored three goals during his time with the League Two side, including the winner in the Boxing Day victory over Cheltenham.

Rangers have today announced on their official website that they have let Rudden leave to join Partick Thistle on a permanent basis. But they also appear to have confirmed an interesting clause has been agreed.

According to the official website, the Gers retain ‘options on Zak for the future’.

That would seemingly suggest that Rangers will have the opportunity to re-sign Rudden at some stage down the line should they wish to.

TBR View – Smart move to keep Rudden on radar

Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that there will be too many supporters who have a problem with Rudden’s departure.

Rangers are incredibly strong up front right now. And the teenager had not been able to stake a strong claim for more opportunities while he was away.

Nevertheless, it looks to be a good piece of business to potentially agree a buy-back clause.

Rudden was previously very impressive during a spell with Falkirk. And if he can develop further at Partick, then there may be discussions about whether he could be good enough to make a return.

Rangers have made a smart move by leaving the door open. He admittedly seems to have a lot to prove to get to the sort of level that will alert the Gers.

But there is clearly an opportunity.
