The race is reportedly hotting up for Maritimo midfielder Josip Vukovic with just a matter of a week remaining for English clubs to sign players this summer – but Rangers need to use their advantage of time.
The Scottish transfer window does not close until August 31 – as did the English window prior to last summer’s change. It means Scottish clubs have an advantage over English sides, as they have more time to complete a deal.
TalkSPORT claimed in an exclusive that Leeds United are battling Aston Villa and Southampton for 27-year-old midfielder Vukovic, who featured 28 times for Portuguese side Maritimo last season.
It is also believed that Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Watford have all scouted the Croatia youth international in the past – and that he is valued at a bargain £1.5million.

But with just a week remaining in the window for Leeds, Villa and the Saints to get a deal done, Rangers should look to take advantage. TalkSPORT previously reported in February that Rangers were interested in Vukovic.
Rangers do have depth in the middle of the park, but with Andy Halliday being used at left-back and Ross McCrorie going on loan to Portsmouth, they could do with another man in the middle of the park.
At just £1.5million, Vukovic is a bargain. It is clear to see that he is of top quality, given the Premier League interest in his signature. He would instantly be worth more than the £1.5million he is currently worth, if he moves to Ibrox.
Rangers should consider re-entering the race for Vukovic, with his asking price so low.
