Both Greg Docherty and George Edmundson responded to a brilliant tweet from a supporter following Rangers Colts’ latest Challenge Cup victory at the weekend.
Graeme Murty’s side are through to the semi-finals of the competition after a 2-0 win over Wrexham. It was Jamie Barjonas and Nathan Young-Coombes who bagged the goals that sent the Gers through.
But despite the win, it was perhaps another moment from the game that was the major talking point on social media after the victory.
The Rangers squad, obviously, predominantly consisted of young prospects. But Murty also took the opportunity to hand two first-team players the chance to get some minutes under their belt.
The two involved were Jon Flanagan and Edmundson. And while some Rangers fans may have been forgiven for not noticing that Flanagan was involved, there was absolutely no chance that the supporters could miss the presence of the six foot three centre-back – particularly with the team taking a photo before the game.
Edmundson, unfortunately, ended up putting himself in the middle of the front row of the photo. And that prompted one supporter to point out the similarities between Edmundson and Buddy from the film Elf.
Docherty could not resist making sure that the Englishman saw the tweet, before Edmundson himself commented on the outstanding comparison.
Here are the original tweet, Docherty’s message and Edmundson’s response…
