Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara has told Rangers TV that Steven Gerrard signing a new deal at Ibrox will be a big push for the club.
BBC Sport has confirmed that Gerrard is set to extend his stay at the club.
Rangers were beaten 1-0 by Celtic on Sunday but the long wait for silverware does look to be nearing a close.
Since Gerrard’s arrival the gap has been shortened to Celtic and the title race this season is more competitive than it has been in recent years.

Kamara was quizzed on Gerrard’s pending extension and he says that all the players would be happy for him.
He told Rangers TV: “It’s a great boost. Since he came in he’s been great for the club and really helped push the club up.
“He’s achieving better things than the people before him. Agreeing to stay will be a big push for the club and we’re all happy for him.”
Gerrard arrived at Rangers prior to the 2018/19 campaign and finished second in the Scottish Premiership during his maiden season.
He has certainly revived the club’s fortunes and there is real hope among supporters that he can win some silverware with the club.
Gerrard is viewed by people outside of Ibrox is a young up and coming manager who can achieve great things.
Talented
He has entrusted young talent in his team at Rangers and there is little surprise that Kamara has praised the work he has done.

The proof of that will naturally come in the way of silverware in Scotland.
If he can end the dominance of Celtic this season and claim the Premiership title, it would certainly help his claim for a big job in the future.
Rangers handing Gerrard a new deal will delight the supporters and will see him continue cutting his managerial teeth at Ibrox for a few more years.
