Rangers fans will be in shock as Bruno Alves is lined up by Juventus

Morocco defender Mehdi Benatia has left Juventus in something of a surprise transfer switch. As reported by Sky Sports, the centre-back has joined Qatari outfit Al Duhail in an £8.7 million transfer.

It leaves Juventus in the hunt for a new centre-back and Rangers fans will be in shock at who they might be targeting.

As reported by Tuttosport earlier in the week, it is former Rangers man Bruno Alves that is on their radar.

The Portuguese international joined Rangers under his countryman Pedro Caixinha. His first season at Ibrox was far from convincing. He suffered from niggling injury trouble and never found his best form.

When Steven Gerrard took over in the summer, he allowed the veteran to terminate the final 12 months of his contract and leave Glasgow.

He joined Parma, newly-promoted to Serie A. The veteran has gone on to have a sensational season in Italy and his good friend Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly wants him at Juventus to replace Benatia.

Rangers fans never saw the best from the 37-year-old in his 25 games at the club. So hearing he could be moving to one of Europe’s best teams will obviously come as a shock to the club’s fans. It is clear he could have given more at Ibrox, but Rangers fans will surely not begrudge him this Indian summer to his career.
