Rangers fans wanted Steven Gerrard to make changes earlier in Legia Warsaw draw

Some fans felt he could have acted earlier in search of a goal.

Rangers came away from Legia Warsaw last night with a battling 0-0 draw to give themselves a great chance of qualifying for the group stages of the Europa League.

Away from home in Europe, a shutout – as tense and uninspiring as it may be for the fans – represents a decent result and Steven Gerrard will hope his men can finish the job at Ibrox on Thursday.

That said, they didn’t get the crucial away goal which would have put them well and truly in the driving seat and some supporters on Twitter thought Gerrard left it too long before making a change last night.

Jermain Defoe only came on with three minutes remaining, not giving him any real time to make an impact in the match.

Many supporters took to Twitter to vent their frustration that Gerrard wasn’t more decisive sooner and they perhaps felt that an earlier change could have swung the game Rangers’ way.

It doesn’t seem like too big an issue now, but if Rangers are stung on their own patch next week, perhaps some supporters will look back on this one as an opportunity missed – which could have been taken if Gerrard had been more decisive.
