Rangers cruised into the second qualifying round of the Europa League with a 6-0 second-leg win over St. Joseph’s at Ibrox on Thursday night – but fans were unimpressed with new signing Jake Hastie.
Hastie, 20, joined Rangers on a free transfer from Motherwell this summer after a sparkling second half to the campaign at Fir Park, scoring six goals in 12 Scottish Premiership outings.
The winger made his debut for Rangers in the second leg, lasting 58 minutes before Scott Arfield replaced the young star. Hastie failed to make the kind of impact he may have hoped for in front of 45,000 fans at Ibrox.

Alfredo Morelos took the plaudits as he scored a superb hat-trick, taking his tally to four goals in just two games already this season. Jermain Defoe scored twice, while new signing Joe Aribo also found the back of the net.
Hastie has enormous competition on the flanks at Rangers, with Jamie Murphy, Jordan Jones, Greg Stewart, Dapo Mebude, and Sheyi Ojo vying for a place. Ryan Kent could return, while Daniel Candeias looks set to leave.
Rangers fans reacted on Twitter to Hastie’s debut in the Light Blue colours, and though many were unimpressed, they feel the youngster will eventually come good. One fan claimed he was “trying too hard”.
