Rangers fans thrilled as Allan McGregor signs contract extension

Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor has signed a contract extension at Ibrox – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are delighted with the news.

The Light Blues confirmed (official website) that the shot-stopper has penned a one-year extension on his deal, which means he is now under contract with them until 2021.

Manager Steven Gerrard confirmed (official Twitter) on Wednesday that McGregor and teammate Steven Davis were close to new deals.

McGregor is the first to get over the line out of the pair, but Gerrard also committed his future to the Gers by signing a new deal on Friday until 2024.

Despite losing in the Scottish League Cup final to Celtic last weekend, there is an optimism around Rangers that they are in the title race and that they also managed to qualify for the Europa League knockout rounds.

McGregor has been a big part of the success due to his consistency in goal and the veteran’s return to Ibrox in 2018 has been a blessing.

The 37-year-old was a colossus in net last season, something he’s managed to keep going with so far this campaign.

He’s played 29 games across all cxompettisoin this season and managed 15 clean sheets in return.
