Greg Docherty shone for Hibernian on Sunday afternoon as Jack Ross’ side eased into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup with a 4-1 win over BSC Glasgow – and many Rangers fans have responded to the midfielder’s Tweet.

Hibernian’s deadline-day signings starred as Marc McNulty nabbed a hat-trick with Docherty creating two of his three goals, before McNulty turned provider and set up 23-year-old Docherty for a tap-in late on.

Docherty has managed just 19 appearances for Rangers since being signed by Graeme Murty in January 2018. He has since been on loan at Shrewsbury Town in England’s third tier, where he had a hand in 21 goals in 50 outings.

Now, he has gone on loan for a second time, joining Hibs – after Ross would have seen Docherty impress for Shrewsbury last season while in charge of Sunderland. He has the ground running, in what was a first start for Hibs.

Two assists, including an excellent 50-yard pass for McNulty’s third goal – before tapping home to score his first goal – rounded off an excellent display from the former Hamilton midfielder. He posted on Twitter (above) after the match.

Rangers fans responded to his post, with many congratulating and applauding the four-time Scotland Under-21 international for his efforts. Some even stated he has a future at Ibrox, with one supporter claiming the £650,000 (Record) signing looks better in blue.
