A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to respond to Graeme Murty following the announcement that he has left his post at Ibrox.

It has been a huge couple of weeks for the Gers. Of course, Giovanni Van Bronckhorst was confirmed as Steven Gerrard’s successor just a couple of days ago.

As one manager comes in however, another who has taken charge of the Gers has now left. Rangers confirmed on their official website that the 47-year-old will be going after five years at Ibrox.

Murty has performed a number of roles. Most notably, he had two stints where he took charge of the first-team. However, the majority of his time involved working within the youth setup.

His time as the number one did not play out how he would have liked. But he has received a lot of credit from Rangers fans on social media for the way that he stepped up when the club needed him.

Certainly, what he potentially lacked in managerial nous, he definitely made up for in passion and desire to make his spell work.

And that has ensured that he will be remembered incredibly fondly amongst the Ibrox faithful.

Murty has taken to social media this evening to comment on his departure. Unsurprisingly, it was an incredibly classy message from the former Scotland international.

And he received a host of superb responses from the Rangers fans. Many have insisted that they will always be grateful for the work he put in while associated with the club.
