Rangers suffered a big blow in their bid to reach the knockout rounds of the Europa Legue with a 2-1 defeat to Swiss side Young Boys on Thursday night – and Gers fans think Scott Arfield needs a rest.
Arfield, 30, saw out the entire 90 minutes of the defeat. Alfredo Morelos got Rangers onto the scoresheet and into the lead at the end of the first half, after a superb assist from Borna Barisic. Morelos latched on, and finished expertly.
However, Young Boys equalised just after the restart and then won the match in injury time. Both goals included a mistake from captain James Tavernier, who certainly did not have his best night in Europe.

Arfield started the game on the right flank, alongside Morelos and Sheyi Ojo. The Canada captain has been used as a winger more often this season, since Gerrard brought in Joe Aribo, Steven Davis and Andy King.
He has already clocked up 16 appearances this season, and played 46 times last time out. The drop in form is noticeable. Last season, he scored 12 and laid on seven assists. This time around, he has scored just two and created only one.
Rangers fans reacted on Twitter to Arfield’s display, and many think the former Burnley star needs a rest – while some have suggested that he quits his role in the Canada national team in order to fully focus on Rangers.
