Rangers fans react to report linking them with summer swoop for defender Lowe

Rangers have been linked with a swoop for Derby defender Max Lowe this summer.

Derby County defender Max Lowe has spent the season on loan in the Scottish Premiership, where his performances have attracted the attention of Rangers.

According to the Daily Record, Lowe – who has been voted as the Dons’ player of the season by his team-mates – is the subject of interest from Steven Gerrard, who is looking to further close the gap to Celtic.

They report that Aberdeen want Lowe back again next season, but Rangers are ready to battle the Dons all the way for the 22-year-old defender.

The report says that Lowe is so highly rated by Derby boss Frank Lampard that he has no intention of selling him. But could the relationship between former England team-mates Gerrard and Lampard help swing the deal Rangers’s way?

The report says: “Derby have made it clear they are not prepared to sell Max this summer but they may well see the sense in another loan deal.

“Aberdeen’s cards are already on the table and Max has enjoyed working under Derek this season. But now Rangers are also involved in the discussions so the situation is becoming quite complicated.”

And on Twitter, Rangers fans showed enthusiasm about signing Lowe, given the relatively muted seasons enjoyed by left back options Borna Barisic, Jon Flanagan and Andy Halliday…
