Rangers thrashed Hamilton 8-0 in the Scottish Premiership at Ibrox yesterday, with Steven Gerrard handing Bongani Zungu his debut as a half-time substitute.

The South African central midfielder played for the Gers for the first time since making the move from Amiens during the summer transfer window.

Zungu has played 24 times for his country and put in a strong performance on his debut for the Light Blues.

Rangers enjoyed a comfortable afternoon against Brian Rice’s team. Kemar Roofe, Joe Aribo and James Tavernier all grabbed themselves a brace, with Scott Arfield and Brandon Barker also getting in on the act.

Gerrard’s side are currently nine points clear of Celtic in the race for the title, although the Hoops do hold two games in hand on their rivals.

Rangers must continue to progress as they have been doing this season and their relentless run of form is showing no sign of stalling.

Following the first outing for Zungu, Rangers fans took to Twitter to rave about their new player.

They were seemingly happy with his first display, although there will be more to come from the 28-year-old.

Here is what Rangers fans were saying about the midfielder after shining in the second half.
