Rangers saw their 27-game unbeaten run come to a surprise end on Wednesday night against St Mirren – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter did give pass marks to midfielder Bongani Zungu for his performance.
Despite being brilliant in the opening months of the season, the Gers suffered a 3-2 defeat against St Mirren in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals.
Steven Gerrard’s side went ahead early in the contest through Connor Goldson, before Jamie McGrath netted twice for hosts St Mirren to give them the lead in the 53rd minute.
Substitute Steven Davis fired in a late equaliser in the 88th minute, but there was another twist in the tale with Conor McCarthy scoring in stoppage time to send St Mirren into the semi-finals of the domestic competition.

A selection of Rangers supporters on social media believe that Zungu made a positive impact on a rare start for the Scottish giants.
The 28-year-old defensive midfielder made just his sixth appearance for the club and battled hard in the centre of the park, but ultimately couldn’t produce anything spectacular to really influence the outcome of the match.
He’s got a colossal job on his hands to try break into Gerrard’s XI due to the competition in the midfield and it looks like he may still be someway down the pecking order despite a solid effort in midweek.
