Joe Aribo got another 90 minutes under his belt to help Rangers to victory over St Mirren. Rangers beat St Mirren 1-0 in Paisley to retain a 100 per cent record in the league and keep the pace with Celtic.

Ahead of the Old Firm derby, the two Glasgow sides are level on points with Celtic ahead on goal difference. Steven Gerrard will be hoping his players lift their game, though, after a mediocre display against St Mirren.

It was a game lacking in tempo and final-third quality but Rangers produced an industrious win. They showed they could win ugly with good performances in the midfield from Aribo, Glen Kamara and Ryan Jack.

Aribo, a summer recruit from English club Charlton Athletic, continued to operate in a box-to-box midfield role. He is energetic and a relentless runner; his workhorse-style suits Gerrard’s system down to the ground.

Rangers fans were impressed by the 23-year-old’s latest display. Aribo is still improving and fans believe they are watching a star in the making. Here are some tweets discussing his St Mirren performance.
