Steven Gerrard’s Rangers coasted to victory on Sunday as they beat Ligue 1 outfit Marseille 4-0.
The Light Blues were in superb form as they ran rings around their opponents with Daniel Candeias scoring a brace, and Jermain Defoe and Connor Goldson adding a goal each.

Gerrard’s men were quick out of the blocks, with young Joe Aribo impressive in central midfield alongside Steven Davis and Ryan Jack.
One man who particularly caught the eye though, despite only playing half the match, was winger Candeias – who has been the subject of a lot of talk this summer.
The Portuguese frustrated at times last term, and the additions of Sheyi Ojo and Jordan Jones by Gerrard had some forseeing a possible role on the bench in 2019/20.
He was left out of Rangers’ Europa League squad which had to have stung.

But Candeias sent a clear message to the manager with his display against Marseille.
The tireless 31-year-old was not only dangerous in attack, but it looked as though he had a point to prove with the way he pressed.
