Rangers fans react on Twitter to Stephen Kelly’s display vs Celtic

A number of Rangers fans took to Twitter to laud Stephen Kelly’s weekend performance as the Gers loanee played his part in sending the Scottish Premiership title just a little bit closer to Ibrox.

Steven Gerrard’s side put themselves within three victories of glory earlier on on Sunday. Rangers beat Dundee United 4-1 at home to extend their lead to 18 points.

But Celtic were unable to close that gap later in the day. They were beaten 1-0 at then-bottom side Ross County.

And Kelly was one of those who produced a really impressive performance for John Hughes’s men.

As shown by, he was one of just four County players to play a key pass as the Hoops dominated possession. But he also made two successful tackles.

His tally of five interceptions was higher than any other player on the pitch. And for some Rangers fans, the central midfielder’s display was an indicator that he may have a bright future at Ibrox ahead.

Of course, it is a daunting task for any youngster trying to force their way into Gerrard’s plans right now. But several supporters insisted that Kelly has staked an impressive claim ahead of next season.
