A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to respond to the announcement that the club made on their official website concerning Serge Atakayi.

Rangers have announced that the 20-year-old has left Ibrox on a permanent deal. The youngster has joined SJK Seinajoki after more than three years in Scotland.

Atakayi joined the Gers back in 2016 after initially joining on trial. And he was often earmarked as one player to look out for while playing for the club’s development side.

The forward was handed his first-team debut for the Light Blues last season. However, his bow in the 7-1 win over Motherwell last November proved to be his only appearance for the senior side.

The news that he has now left the club has left many of the supporters on social media divided. The large majority have wished Atakayi well and expressed their hope that he will enjoy plenty of success during his career.

But there is a sense of disappointment amongst many. Following his first-team debut, many felt that Atakayi was destined to push into Steven Gerrard’s plans at some stage in the future.

However, there are also those who believe that it is best for all parties that Atakayi has moved on. With no senior appearances in more than a year, some felt that the writing was probably on the wall. And they are not sure that the starlet will be able to make Rangers rue their decision to let him go.

Here is what some of the supporters made of the announcement…
