Rangers fans react on Twitter to Borna Barisic’s display

A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Borna Barisic’s display for the Gers in their emphatic 5-0 win over Hearts on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard’s side remain level on points with Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership after their superb victory at Ibrox. One goal is all that separates the two pace-setters right now, with Alfredo Morelos, and Ryan Kent putting the Light Blues 2-0 up at the break.

Christophe Berra scored an own goal and Greg Stewart bagged a brace to complete the rout.

Just as it is not at all surprising to see Morelos score when Rangers win, it is also becoming absolutely no surprise to see Barisic contribute an assist when the Gers score plenty.

The Croatian has been outstanding this season. And his transformation continued at the weekend as he provided a delicious cross for Morelos to break the deadlock in the early stages against Hearts.

It is remarkable to think that the left-back looked destined for the exit in the summer. He struggled during his first year in Scotland. And it seemed inevitable that he would be offloaded during the previous window.

However, Barisic has enjoyed an incredible turnaround. He has now provided three assists in the top flight. He has also managed four assists in five Europa League games.

And some of the supporters on social media have suggested that he was a real contender for man of the match against Hearts on Sunday. They feel that he is now almost as important as any other player, and are clearly stunned at how well he has done.

Barisic showed glimpses of his quality last season. And it was no secret that he was one of the most talented crossers of the ball even when he was struggling. But the contrast between this season and last has been staggering.
