A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to laud Andy Halliday after the 28-year-old issued an apology to the supporters for the Gers’ recent form – as reported by Sky Sports.
It has been a miserable time for the Ibrox faithful, despite their progress in the Europa League. Steven Gerrard’s side have fallen 13 points off the Scottish Premiership title race having seized the initiative as the season paused for the winter break.

They were also knocked out of the Scottish Cup at the weekend. And following their 1-0 defeat to Hamilton at home on Wednesday, Halliday admitted that the side’s form has not been good enough.
“I can’t put my finger on what has gone wrong. All I can do, and I know it’s empty words, is on behalf of all the players offer our complete and sincere apologies,” he said, as reported by Sky Sports.
“The performances since the winter break have been absolutely miles off it and we can’t put our finger on it.”

Unfortunately, Halliday issuing an apology has only angered a lot of supporters more – though the utility man has emerged with a lot of credit.
Respect for Halliday increases
Plenty of Rangers fans have praised the way Halliday has not hidden away. He has barely featured for Gerrard’s side this term.
And when he has been involved, he has often produced a good performance. His effort can certainly never be questioned.
Instead, the anger has been directed at those who have featured regularly lately. Several fans cannot believe that Halliday is the man issuing the apology. They clearly want to hear from the likes of James Tavernier and Connor Goldson, who boast senior roles within the team.
The respect for Halliday has increased with his apology. But the fans are angry that he is the man to face up to the public criticism.
