A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to laud Alfredo Morelos’s performance as Steven Gerrard’s side stormed to an emphatic victory in their first home game of the new campaign.
Morelos has come in for a bit of criticism in recent weeks. Despite playing a crucial role in the Gers’ winner against Aberdeen on the opening day, his work-rate has been questioned.
Admittedly, he was poor in Thursday’s defeat to Bayer Leverkusen. And some may have wondered whether the clash in Germany would be his final appearance for the club.
The Daily Mail reported on Saturday that Lille had had four bids rejected for the Colombian. But he put any talk about his future to one side with an impressive display against St Mirren at Ibrox.
The deadlock was broken thanks to an own goal. But it was Morelos’s ball across the box that was turned in by Conor McCarthy.
And he then made sure that the points were safe with two second-half goals. The striker headed home and then tapped in from close range to put Rangers 3-0 up by the time he left the field.
And following the game, plenty of Gers fans heaped praise on Morelos’s performance. They insisted that he silenced his critics and reminded everyone exactly why he is reportedly attracting eight-figure bids this summer.
Here is how some of the fans reacted to Morelos’s performance on Sunday…
Much more like it from Morelos. Very good performance.

Morelos came in for criticism and rightly so after Thursday, no player or manager should be exempt from it. As expected he replied today in the right way, that’s the Morelos well all want to see.

I’ll take another season of you Morelos if you’re in this mood 🤩

Morelos not good enough get rid of him, Morelos not interested get rid of him, the sooner people realise he’s been our best striker for a long time the better. Id much rather a rangers team with him than without him.

I think the reason Morelos wasn‘t interested against Leverkusen was because there wasn’t anything in the game. Rangers were effectively out beforehand.
Here, in a game with significance, he gives a brilliant performance.
