A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Scottish Sun suggesting that incoming sporting director Ross Wilson is keen for the Gers to make a bid for Aaron Hickey.
Wilson is set to take over at Ibrox after leaving Southampton this week. And it appears that he has wasted little time identifying potential targets for Steven Gerrard’s squad.
The Scottish Sun reports that Wilson was keeping an eye on the Hearts youngster during his time at St Mary’s. And he is looking at potentially making a move for the 17-year-old now that he is at Rangers.
Hickey has made a fantastic start to life in the first-team at Tynecastle. He started last season’s Scottish Cup final and gave an incredibly good account of himself.
The Scottish Sun reports that Manchester City are also monitoring Hickey’s development. It is noted that Wilson plans to recommend making a £2 million bid for the defender.
The news appears to have divided supporters on social media. Some of the Ibrox faithful believe that they do not need Hickey now or in the future. Borna Barisic has been excellent this term, and one fan insisted that Nathan Patterson is a bigger prospect.
However, there are others who would love to see Hickey at Ibrox. They believe that he is a real talent and should be brought in. It is suggested by one supporter however, that they expect the full-back to head to the Premier League.
Here is what some of the fans make of the reports…
Aaron Hickey to come to Rangers?
Yeah I really don’t think that’s happening.

Why we have better at the club already. Nathan Patterson is a far better player

1 for the future but we have enough squad players

I don’t see him spending £2m on a 17-year-old when Rangers have the current Croatian international at left back and the club captain at right-back.

We should sign Aaron Hickey, lots of potential.
