Rangers have announced that striker Zak Rudden has joined English League Two side Plymouth Argyle on loan until the end of the season despite impressing at Falkirk last campaign – and Gers fans have reacted on Twitter.
Rudden, 19, scored 12 goals in 31 appearances for Falkirk and even showed a creative aspect to his game by laying on four assists for he Championship side. However, his future is now in doubt at Rangers.
The Scotland Under-19 international has less than 12 months remaining on his current Rangers deal and it appears that Steven Gerrard does not believe he is needed at Ibrox this season. It has seen Rudden opt to go out on loan.
The likes of Jermain Defoe and Alfredo Morelos are obviously first choice at Ibrox, with the strikers consistently scoring goals for the Light Blues. Greg Stewart can play up front, as can fellow new signing Jake Hastie – though the latter is inexperienced.
However, the belief among many is that Rudden could have been given the chance to become back-up to both Morelos and Defoe – especially following the release of Kyle Lafferty this summer.
Indeed, Rangers fans have questioned the decision to loan out Rudden this summer, as many saw him as breaking into the senior side this season.
Hope he does well. I hoped he would be our third striker but it looks like been injured pre season has ruined his chances of that.

Surely we must be looking to bring in another forward ?

Does this mean we are looking for a striker to join the squad in this transfer window…
Just a squad player required as back up as we have our first picks…
SG referenced Rudden previously as our back up when asked about buying another striker….
So now what ?

After the season you had last year I was hoping that you would be in and around the first team scene, however in Stevie G and his background team I trust
, so Best of luck Zak at Plymouth Argyle. I'll be following your progress with interest.
