Wes Foderingham is reportedly set to join Sheffield United this summer after his contract at Rangers was allowed to expire by Steven Gerrard who opted against keeping the goalkeeper – and Gers fans have responded on Twitter.

Foderingham, 29, joined Rangers in the summer of 2015 from Swindon Town – and has since played a whopping 143 times for the Scottish giants, conceding only 144 times and keeping an impressive 56 clean sheets.

The London-born England youth international was first choice under Mark Warburton, Pedro Caixinha and Graeme Murty – but the arrival of Gerrard saw Allan McGregor return to Ibrox. It saw Foderingham relegated to the bench.

He has spent the past two seasons as back-up to veteran McGregor, managing just 13 appearances for Rangers across both campaigns. Now, his contract has expired but he is set to secure an excellent move to the Premier League.

As per the Record, Chris Wilder is set to complete a move to land the free agent at Sheffield United. The Blades need a goalkeeper, with the likelihood that Dean Henderson could return to parent club Manchester United.

It may mean that Foderingham is in with a shout of becoming first choice at a side that could qualify for the Europa League after a stunning Premier League campaign – and Gers fans have reacted on Twitter.
