Rangers have been drawn against German side Bayer Leverkusen in the last 16 of the Europa League after beating Portuguese side Braga 4-2 on aggregate on Wednesday night – and many Gers fans have immediately reacted to the draw on Twitter.
Leverkusen are renowned for being one of the biggest clubs in Germany, currently sitting fifth in the Bundesliga – just six points behind leaders Bayern Munich. They boast players such as Kai Havertz and Kevin Volland.
Ianis Hagi’s stunning brace – either side of Joe Aribo’s solo effort – saw Rangers come from 2-0 down to win the first leg 3-2. Ryan Kent’s excellent finish saw Rangers qualify, as The Gers earned a 1-0 win away from home in the round of 32.

Rangers were one of three British sides to qualify for the next round – with Manchester United smashing Belgian side Club Brugge 6-1 on aggregate, while Wolverhampton Wanderers earned a 6-3 win over two legs against Spanish side Espanyol.
Rangers’ bitter rivals Celtic were somewhat surprisingly knocked out against FC Copenhagen on Thursday night, despite earning a 1-1 draw away from home in the first leg. Celtic do remain 12 points ahead at the top of the Scottish table.
The tie against Leverkusen is likely to be considered somewhat tough, given the size and quality of the German side. Leverkusen beat Rangers’ group-stage opponents FC Porto 5-2 on aggregate, winning 3-1 in Portugal on Thursday.
Rangers fans reacted to the news that they have been drawn with Leverkusen, with the Gers playing the first leg at home on March 12 – before a trip to Germany seven days later. Many have reacted on Twitter.
