Steven Gerrard is reportedly ‘intrigued’ over a move to Newcastle United from Rangers – and Gers fans have reacted to the news on Twitter.

Of course, Newcastle have finally completed a £300million takeover that sees the back of Mike Ashley. Steve Bruce’s future is in massive doubt.

A report from The Mail claims that the Saudi-backed consortium are looking to find a new manager. Antonio Conte is said to be first choice.

But The Mail says that Rangers boss Gerrard could also be considered. It is claimed that the Liverpool legend is ‘intrigued’ by a move to Tyneside.

Gerrard has excelled as Rangers manager. He took his side to the Scottish Premiership title in 2020-21, stopping Celtic from winning a 10-in-a-row.

Not only that, but he has established Rangers as a force in Europe again – reaching the last 16 of the Europa League on two successive occasions.

He has a contract at Rangers until the summer of 2024, but the report says that Gerrard is expected to leave Rangers at the end of the season.

Rangers supporters love their manager. Gerrard has taken a struggling side, failing to match Celtic, to winning the title. They look good to do it again.

But could a move to Newcastle tempt Gerrard before the summer? At the end of the season, it certainly would – but could he go before then?
