A number of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment and frustration after Steven Gerrard confirmed in his press conference that Cedric Itten is a major doubt for the Gers’ next game on Thursday.

It is a cruel blow for Itten. The summer signing has endured a tough start to life at Ibrox. But he appeared to turn a corner in emphatic fashion at the weekend.

The forward scored twice in the 5-1 win over Motherwell. His first goal was a stunning volley from the edge of the box. And his second came as he reacted fastest from a corner to score from close range.

Unfortunately for the 23-year-old, it appears that he is unlikely the chance to build on that display this Thursday.

Rangers face Galatasaray in the play-off round of Europa League qualifying. But it would seem that Itten is unlikely to feature.

In comments posted on the club’s official Twitter account, Gerrard confirmed that Itten was a major doubt due to a small issue with his knee.

The news has obviously disappointed a number of Rangers supporters on social media. The Gers have endured a terrible run of luck with injuries so far this season.

And the fans are clearly frustrated that Itten has a problem at a time when he would have surely been high on confidence after his brace at the weekend.

Here is how of the supporters reacted to the news concerning Itten…
