Rangers starlet Serge Atakayi dedicated his winning goal to the late Fernando Ricksen. Former Rangers player Ricksen sadly passed away after battling Motor Neurone Disease.

On an emotional day for the club, Rangers Colts beat Ballymena United 1-0 in the third round of the Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Cup. It was a tricky away test for the young Rangers side in Northern Ireland but they sneaked through to the fourth round.

Atakayi came off the bench to claim a late winner. Jamie Barjonas sent a ball over the top which was not dealt with by the Ballymena defence. Following the defensive lapse, Atakayi pounced on the loose ball, composed himself and rolled it past the onrushing goalkeeper.

The Finland youth international’s 87th-minute goal was the decider at the Ballymena Showgrounds. And he dedicated his winner to Ricksen by pointing to the sky in celebration.

Rangers fans were impressed by this classy gesture from the 20-year-old. This goal clearly meant a lot to Atakayi, who has played one game for the Rangers senior side. Following his celebration for Ricksen, here are some Rangers fans’ reactions.
