After a lengthy absence, Ryan Jack is back in the Scotland squad. The Rangers midfielder has been named in Steve Clarke’s squad to face Russia and Belgium in the Euro 2020 qualifying matches.
Jack has not played for Scotland since July 2018. That game was against Belgium and he played 37 minutes. His only other outing was against the Netherlands in September 2017. He played at right-back and was booed by some sections of the group after his move from Aberdeen to Rangers.
But the 27-year-old’s exceptional form over the past season has earned him a recall. Clarke is the new manager of Scotland and Jack has been included in his second squad. Injury prevented him from being named in the last squad.
Jack hoping for regular Scotland role

Jack is a mainstay in Steven Gerrard’s midfield. Operating alongside the likes of Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara, Ryan keeps things ticking over for the Gers. He has continued to catch the eye this season and has earned his call-up.
Here are some tweets from Rangers fans, who seemed split over whether they were proud of Jack or disappointed that he might get booed again.
