Young Rangers midfielder Liam Burt has confirmed that he is leaving Ibrox in the summer. The 20-year-old took to his official Twitter account yesterday to announce his departure from the Glasgow club.
The Scotland under-21 international joined Rangers as a youngster, after being released by Old Firm rivals Celtic.
He went on to make his debut in 2016, before going on to make a total of three appearances for the first-team. He also spent time on loan at Dumbarton and Alloa Athletic. Unfortunately, he never looked like forcing his way into Steven Gerrard’s plans and the right move for his career now is to move on.
Of course, he still has the potential to make a name for himself in the game. Plenty of youngsters have not made the grade at Rangers to then go on and thrive elsewhere.

Ross McCormack, Charlie Halkett and Liam Kelly are three examples.
Unfortunately for Burt, the central midfield position for Rangers’ senior and reserve sides is well stocked which left him struggling for a chance at Ibrox.
Steven Gerrard takes the development of young players seriously, so letting Burt go will no doubt be in the best interests of the player. Rangers fans were certainly supportive of his next step, with many hoping to see him at Ibrox again down the road.
